Why is everyone just concentrating on the FF7 diss when they say Track & Field, NES games (#2), Oregon Trail and (most importantly) side-scrolling beat-em-ups (Sunset Heroes, TMNT2-4, The Simpsons and X-Men: The Arcade Game) are overrated!

EDIT: The best part of X-Men: The Arcade Game was you and your friends spending quarters upon quarters, beating Magneto with only 1 friend left standing (because all the rest of you were out of money) and finding out that was only the &q...

You bring up a great point actually. I love how everyone is calling this an "adult" game when everything about it just screams teenage boy fantasy! I mean even the narrative feels like it was written by a 15 year old who wants to get laid way too bad.

That being said, I still really like the game (9/10 for me). I am just perplexed by the glut of perfect 10 scores for a game that obviously has its flaws (I can't believe a couple reviewers actually praised the voice ...

especially about the character "weight" and smoke comments. Bubble to you!

The reason FPS shooters don't have the "option" to go into 3rd person is because you bring on a whole new set of obstacles in 3rd person. Think about it...

1. The camera in first person is from the view of the player and is controlled as if you were actually there, if you go into 3rd person, you'd have to design a whole camera system to account for this.
2. Whole new animations would be needed for the main character. Whereas in first person you don't really...

The fluidity of the animations for the NPCs is still better in the original video. There are still a couple little things the original trailer has over the new gameplay vids like extra detail (ex: rocks in the street). That being said, I am still incredibly impressed at how amazing Killzone 2 looks.

I really never thought they could get close to (or even surpass in some respects) the '05 CG trailer, but I was wrong!

I can't stand another WW2 shooter. I say we go slightly futuristic - like 10 years in the future. Use weapons that are in development right now like the ones they show in the future weaponry shows on TV.

and place too much emphasis on the technical aspects like how high-res the textures are, how high the framerate is INSTEAD of how the game just looks (I've come to notice that PC gamers are just techheads, ignoring things like fluid/lifelike animations, artistic direction, etc. when making judgments on visuals).

Plus, look at all the stuff going on in KZ2!

Did anyone notice that the new Indiana Jones seems to be inspired by Uncharted (just like Uncharted was inspired by the old Indiana Jones)? Have you seen the locales, from the forest chase scenes to the 4 pillars to the Nazi outpost (control room surround by glass windows in the trailer) to the spiral staircase - I mean, I definetely think someone on the Indy storyboard/design team definetely played some Uncharted.

but then again, I'd pay for a lot of demos that never see their way into the public's hands.

is BY FAR my favorite game for the next-gen consoles, but in terms of visuals Killzone 2 beats it out by a reasonable margin. Of course, it's to be expected because of the amount of resources being put into development and the fact it's coming out 2 years after.

I lol at the 60 fps CoD4 vs. 30fps Killzone 2 argument. Like these guys can even see a noticeable difference. The gameplay from the Killzone 2 videos seems smooth even if it is 30fps. Plus, all that really matters i...

Killzone 2 movies. That game looks awesome in motion!

Also, I'd pay for the quick 5-20 minute Killzone 2 demo shown a couple days ago.

Now, that'd be pretty cool. Mirror's Edge looks pretty good, but it's mostly because of that amazing blue sky! It wouldn't garner nearly as much attention if the backdrop were cloudy - think about it...

Because GTA4, MGS4, Persona 4, Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Fallout and White Knight Story (yes, I'm a Level 5 fan) are going to have another stiff competitor for GotY!

Ikanago, I did find the graphics a bit blurry as well, but I was more dismayed by was the blockiness and closeup shots which looked downright PS1-ish. I realize they have to sacrifice a lot when making the game as big as it is, but still...

EZCheez, it is hard to effectively judge visuals for a game of GTA4's scope, but I was surprised at the overwhelming consensus among media publications that this game deserved a perfect score in the graphics department. I mean even games l...

Great game, but I'm surprised that so many publications are so reluctant to criticize the game. I'm also confused as to why certain elements of the game like narrative and voice acting are praised. The narrative is nothing special and its delivery is even worse. I feel like I'm going to blow my brains out everytime I hear one of the NPCs talk - whether it's Mikael with his F-bombs every 2 seconds, Lil' Ja...

Red Faction 1 and 2 are considered old? They were released for the PS2 for godsake! Usually aren't comments like these reserved for games from the pre-NES/NES days?
